How to find online access to an article

Click the Journal Titles tab of the search box on the Libraries homepage. Enter the journal title (e.g. New York Times, Journal of Microbiology) and click the Electronic button. In the results that appear, click on a database with access to the year(s) you need for that journal:

arrow points to Biology Database under Journal of Microbiology search results

Use the database functions to navigate to the correct year and journal/issue number. From there, find your article and open the full text.

How to find an article in print

If a periodical full-text is not available online, the Libraries may provide print access. To find it, click the Journal Titles tab of the search box on the Libraries homepage. Enter the journal title (e.g. New York Times, Journal of Microbiology) and click the Paper Volumes button.

If we have print access, you will see a catalog record for that periodical. The most recent issues are located in Current Periodicals (Mortensen Library main level near Woods Classroom, or Allen Library lower level across from circulation desk). If you are looking for an older issue, the call number for the periodical is at the bottom of the catalog record. Find that call number in our Bound Periodicals section (lower level of the building), then find the year and volume/issue of the article you need.

How to request an article from another library

If the Harrison Libraries do not have online or print access to an article, you can request a free copy through Interlibrary Loan. Log in to ILLiad @ H (or create a new account if you've never used it before) and fill out the request form for a Journal Article. When the article is available, you will receive an email with instructions for accessing it.
